Opportunities

How can we as sports practitioners activate young females and encourage them to maintain steady and hopefully increased participation levels in sport?

This section will provide suggestions, advice and opportunities to present to young people that will aim to develop their participation. 

Females in Football 

The FA( Football Association) have funded football to girls in primary schools across the UK, the programme is delivered by a national network of over 300 local partnerships. 

The aims of this programme are simple - increase participation , make sport fun and provide equal opportunities for females in primary school sports. 

Females in sport 

Youth sport trust aims to develop girls' participation in PE, sport and physical activity, through an initiative called 'Active Girls'

The programme is centered around 6 main themes:

1. Take a long-term approach to engaging girls

2. Put developing self-confidence at the heart of PE

3. Make PE and sport relevant to girls lives

4. Recognise the power of friends to drive progress

5. Develop role models for the future

6. Empower girls to design and deliver PE and sport.

This girl can 

Focused on getting women and girls active in sport, 'This Girl Can' is a campaign for equal opportunities and development of participation for women and girls from all walks of life. 

  • Aimed at minority communities in society ( Asian, Muslim , black communities)

  • Promoting movement and physical activity in women. 

  • Different phases to individually target different groups
